Event Description

This session is part of the Talent Tweak Career Webinar Series, which connects students, researchers, and professionals across diverse life science disciplines to explore evolving career paths in research and industry. Each session highlights a specialized scientific area, offering participants practical insight into how discovery science translates into real-world therapeutic innovation.

In this session, we focus on Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) — a core field that bridges chemistry, biology, and clinical pharmacology to understand how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted. The speaker will share scientific perspectives and personal experiences from the biopharmaceutical industry, providing valuable guidance on academic preparation, higher studies abroad, and career growth in DMPK, PK modeling, and translational pharmacology.

Presented by:

Dr. Masud Parvez, Principal Scientist at AbbVie

In this interactive session, you will:

  • Understand how DMPK and pharmacokinetics shape modern drug discovery, development, and precision medicine.
  • Explore key research roles and industrial career pathways in drug metabolism, transporter science, and PK/PD modeling.
  • Learn how in vitro–in vivo extrapolation, pharmacogenomics, and modeling tools drive decision-making in clinical pharmacology.
  • Gain practical insights from the speaker’s industry experience on the technical expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and career strategies needed to succeed in this field.

Who should attend?

Undergraduate, graduate students, Post-docs, early-career researchers, and anyone aspiring to pursue a research career globally
